Valencia Cathedral tour

– PARADISE ON EARTH –

Consecrated in 1238 by Bishop Albalat it is a first-class landmark that features a rich and elegant overlap of architectural styles, built up on the foundations of a Roman temple, a Visigoth basilica and the city’s main mosque. It reached its metropolitan status in 1492 thanks to Rodrigo Borja, who was by then cardinal in Valencia, and shows elements of singular beauty such as its bell tower, affectionately known by the Valencian people as the ´Miguelete´, its superb chapel of the Holy Grail or the outstanding musician angels as a clear cultural reference of the arrival of the Renaissance style in the city. Its three gates- Palau or Archbishop Palace, the earliest one, the apostles´, designed in an elegant XIV century French Gothic style and the Baroque one ´of the Irons´, with a remarkable Italian Baroque hint- , fulfill an unforgettable visit that cannot leave the visitor indifferent.
