Selective guided tour: learn all about the artists exhibited in the museum

Considered the second state gallery after El Prado Museum, St. Pius V College was founded in the 17th century with the sole intention of training fledgling priests. It is characterized by its solid structure composed of a facade framed by two puissant towers that give it the appearance of a quarterdeck. Its elegant Baroque dome with Valencian tiles in cobalt blue color is one of the icons of the city, majestically overlooking the old bed of the Turia River. Its exhibits include numerous styles such as international Gothic, Valencian Renaissance influenced by the Quattrocento splendour, Spanish Baroque, with works by Ribalta, Ribera, Orrente or Espinosa to name a few, or the Valencian school of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries: Sorolla, Benlliure, Pinazo or Degrain. Among some of the most appreciated works are a Velázquez´s self-portrait, some Goyas´ or a Virgin and the baby Jesus by Il Pinturicchio.
